Această lentilă specială este concepută pentru a oferi un suport optim în vindecarea ochilor și pentru a ameliora simptomele asociate.

Therapeutic contact lenses are designed to protect the surface of the eye, the area called the cornea, by acting as a local dressing.

1. In what situations are therapeutic contact lenses helpful?

Therapeutic contact lenses help:

in wounds of the corneal surface - called corneal erosions, some of which are recurrent;
ocular posttrauma with corneal wound
in healing corneal ulcers;
in conditions such as bullous keratopathy;
după chirurgia refractivă laser, cu rolul de reduce disconfortul local și a oferi condiții optime de vindecare a țesutului cornean;
în sindromul de ochi uscat;
after corneal chemical burns.

relief of eye pain;
promoting corneal healing;
protection and mechanical support;
maintaining corneal hydration;
absorption of topical medicines.

The hydrogel lens, dipped in the delivery adhesive and then applied to the ocular surface, provides increased ocular surface-medication contact, far superior to frequent drop administration.

3. Contraindications

Therapeutic contact lenses are applied by the ophthalmologist, with the patient wearing these lenses for a few days. Their removal will be decided by the treating doctor depending on the course of the disease.

There are also cases where therapeutic contact lenses are contraindicated, namely in:

bacterial keratitis;
allergy to the contact lens material;
anaesthesia and corneal hypoxia.
