1. Angiography Fluorescein is a technique for examining the circulation of the retina and choroid (parts of the fundus) using a dye called fluorescein and a specialised camera. Its indications are multiple: age-related macular degeneration, retinal dystrophies, diabetic retinopathy, ocular tumours, ocular vascular disease. It is useful both for establishing a correct diagnosis and for monitoring the effectiveness of retinal laser treatment. Angiofluorography is the investigation of choice for the differentiation of ocular tumours and is mandatory before initiating a therapeutic management. The technique is simple to perform, but the correct interpretation of the results requires experience, professionalism and responsibility. S.L. Dr. Alexandra Preda

2. Cataract surgery is the most successful surgery in medicine. During cataract surgery, the surgeon will remove the cataract and insert a lens implant. New lens implants are being developed to be as useful as possible for patients. There are lens implants that correct presbyopia and can help you see at all distances without glasses, multifocal implants. Another new type of lens implant blocks both ultraviolet radiation and visible blue light, which are considered risk factors for retinal degenerative processes. We offer specialist cataract treatment consultations and advice on the type of lens implant that suits your needs. Dr Alexandra Preda

3. "To take care of something/someone like the eyes in your head." The old expression, which I'm sure everyone has heard or used, suggests the importance of eyes and eye health. Approximately 90% of the information in the environment is provided by the eyes. Screening and prevention of eye disease is particularly important from childhood to old age. Many eye diseases can be prevented or treated if diagnosed correctly at the right time. We provide medical services to international standards, with an emphasis on preventive measures and state-of-the-art surgical and medical treatments. Dr Alexandra Preda

4. Studies have shown that myopes have higher blood levels of vitamin D smaller than non-myopes. These data suggest a direct role for vitamin D as a risk factor for myopia. Sufficient vitamin D is important for normal growth, bone and tooth development, as well as improving resistance to certain diseases. As well as getting vitamin D from sunlight, we can also absorb it through certain foods and supplements to ensure adequate blood levels. In our clinic we can determine vitamin D levels and offer personalised treatment schemes. S.L.Dr. Alexandra Preda

5. In winter Temperatures can drop well below freezing. Extreme temperatures restrict blood flow to many parts of the body to conserve heat for the most vital organs, and sometimes the eyes can be affected. You may experience transient vision changes such as light sensitivity, double vision, sensation of vision loss and hyperlachrymation. We recommend moving to a warmer area indoors to increase blood flow to the eyes and administering artificial tears. If your vision does not return to normal within thirty minutes, then seek medical help. Dr Alexandra Preda

6. Snow blindness is a temporary painful loss of vision due to overexposure to the sun's UV rays. The medical term for snow blindness is photokeratitis. Snow can reflect more than 80% of UV rays. Winter sports such as skiing, mountaineering and snowboarding usually take place at relatively high altitudes where the sun's UV rays are stronger. These factors can double the risk of corneal burns. Symptoms include: eye pain, red eyes, foreign body sensation, light sensitivity, blurred vision, eyelid oedema, headaches, halitosis around light sources. In this situation we recommend staying indoors, wearing professional sunglasses and keeping the eyes hydrated by administering artificial tears. If symptoms persist you should consult your ophthalmologist. Ș.L Dr. Alexandra Preda

7. Not every red eye is an infection and should not be treated with antibiotics bought at the pharmacy or suggested by uninformed people. Often a red eye is a dry eye, which produces a local inflammatory and irritative reaction leading to redness of the eye, whitish discharge in the morning on waking, blurred vision, foreign body sensation or sand in the eye. In the current trend of treating everything with antibiotics, the long-term consequences can affect eye health. We recommend that you seek an ophthalmological check-up to establish a correct diagnosis and treatment to prevent further complications. In order for the eyes to be healthy and vision to be optimal, the thin layer of fluid (tears) on the surface of the eyes must be sufficient in quantity and of the right quality. In addition to local treatment to supplement the tear deficiency, our clinic has top products, vitamins and supplements that can help you treat problems and maintain long-term eye health. S.L Dr. Alexandra Preda

8. It is believed that almost all patients with diabetes type 1 and over 60% of patients with type 2 diabetes have some form of diabetic retinopathy. Worldwide, one in 11 people has diabetes. The prevalence of diabetes in Romania is 11.6%. Unfortunately, the first symptoms often go unnoticed by the patient. Diabetic retinopathy is one of the main causes of sight loss and for this reason it is advisable for a patient with diabetes to see an ophthalmologist regularly, at least once every six months. S.L. Dr. Alexandra Preda

9. Why have an eye screening at 40?

A comprehensive eye examination is important because it can detect common, symptomless ocular diseases in adults with age 40 and over. A comprehensive eye examination can reveal common diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts and diabetic retinopathy. It can also reveal less common but serious problems such as eye tumours. An ophthalmological examination can identify diseases systemic diseases affecting the eyes, such as high blood pressure and diabetes diabetes. If treatment is started early, eye problems with potential for blindness can be prevented. The ophthalmic examination provides an greater opportunity for early treatment and sight preservation. 10. Botox, Unlike any beauty product, it allows you to give time back. In an instant, your skin is back to the smooth, wrinkle-free look it had years ago. Botulinum toxin is a substance that contributes to muscle relaxation leading to the disappearance or significant reduction of wrinkles. The aesthetic effects generally last between 3 and 6 months. The eyes are often the first thing we notice in others, so a keen eye implies very good vision as well as a harmonious aesthetic appearance. Our clinic offers botulinum toxin injection services.
